About the Artist
Jane Barnard Artist Resume_2012
BIO. Jane Barnard is a professional artist, a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, the Door County Art League, and Wisconsin Visual Artists. She is represented by galleries in Stevens Point and Door County, Wisconsin. She teaches classes from her studio, at UWSP-Continuing Ed, and at the Center for Visual Arts, Wausau.
Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jane Barnard now lives in Stevens Point, Wisconsin where she is a painter and teacher. She spent 20+ years in Minneapolis/St. Paul where she worked full-time in business and raised her family. During this time, however, she remained committed to her art, and maintained a studio in downtown St. Paul.
Although formally educated in literature, her love of art accelerated in Paris at age 20, when she began her life-long journey through museums, art books, classes, and the joy of mixing with other creative and kindred souls.
Jane “took the leap” in 2007 from a career in software project management to honor her creative side and her artistic passions. She started her professional art business, Barnard Studio, and now paints full-time.
Since then, she has exhibited in juried and non-juried shows both locally and nationally. In Door County she exhibits as a member of the Door County Art League, and is also represented by the Paint Box Gallery (Ephraim). In Stevens Point she exhibits at the Q Artists Cooperative, 1108 Main Street, and the Tomorrow River Gallery, Amherst. She is allied with multiple arts organizations and is active in promoting the arts in the community. She has taught at the Center for Visual Arts in Wausau, and exhibits regularly through the Arts Alliance of Portage County.
